LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Maurice A. Reid upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Brownsville Community Devel-
opment Corporation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Maurice A. Reid has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Maurice A.
Reid upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Brownsville Community Development Corporation on Tuesday, May 19, 2009,
at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; and
WHEREAS, A Brooklyn native, Maurice Reid served as the President and
CEO of the Brownsville Community Development Corporation's Brownsville
Multi-Service Family Health Center from July 1995 through December 2009;
he is an experienced administrator, with management background in health
policy, finance and program development; and
WHEREAS, Maurice Reid is a member and immediate Past-President of the
Board of Directors of the Community Health Care Association of New York
State (CHCANYS), Chairperson of the Brooklyn Queens Community Health
Care Network, member of the American Cancer Society (ACS) Brooklyn Advi-
sory Board, member of the Executive Committee of New York City's Primary
Care Health Information Consortium, member of NYCRx and a Deacon at the
First Baptist Church of Crown Heights; and
WHEREAS, Maurice Reid earned his Bachelor's degree from the School of
Business, Manhattan College, and a Master's degree in Public Adminis-
tration from Baruch College; in June 1995, he completed a two-year
fellowship from the Southern Regional Council; in addition, he is the
recipient of numerous community service awards; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Marilyn, their chil-
dren, Kenyatte and Jamal, and their four grandchildren, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Maurice A. Reid upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Brownsville Community Development Corporation; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Maurice A. Reid.
