LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Juliana Hernandez upon the occa-
sion of being crowned Albany's 2009 Tulip Queen on May 9, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Juliana
Hernandez upon the occasion of her coronation as the 2009 Tulip Queen at
the 61st Annual Albany Tulip Festival on Saturday, May 9, 2009, in
Albany's historic Washington Park; and
WHEREAS, Twenty-one-year-old Juliana Hernandez is a senior at the
College of Saint Rose, majoring in public communications and Spanish;
and
WHEREAS, She serves as the President of the Communications Honor Soci-
ety at her college and has organized several educational fundraising
events including Relay for Life and an AIDS Walk; and
WHEREAS, As Tulip Queen for 2009, Juliana Hernandez's priority will be
to work together with her court, as a team to motivate children to
develop confidence and interest in reading; and
WHEREAS, In her free time, Juliana Hernandez enjoys playing the
guitar, singing, reading and jogging; and
WHEREAS, Through her active involvement in the community and her
sincere dedication to her generation, Juliana Hernandez is an outstand-
ing role model for her peers; and
WHEREAS, Juliana Hernandez represents the potential which is inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring honor
to her family and her community through her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Juliana Hernandez is the daughter of Nancy and David Hernan-
dez, and the sister of Jonathan, Daniel and Gabriella Hernandez, all of
whom are proud to be part of her life and rejoice in her accomplish-
ments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Juliana Hernandez upon the occasion of her coronation as
the 2009 Tulip Queen, and to wish her success in all of her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Juliana Hernandez, Loudonville, New York.
