LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Carlos Lezama Archives and Carib-
bean Cultural Center upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Gala

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention to
individuals and organizations that devote their time and energies to the
cultural enrichment of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that organizations
that give positive definition to the profile and disposition of the
communities of the State of New York profoundly strengthen our society
with their commitment; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Center upon the occa-
sion of hosting its Annual Gala on June 11, 2009, in Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The University of the State of New York enabled the estab-
lishment of a non-profit 501C3 corporation and educational entity
devoted to the preservation of Caribbean culture; and
WHEREAS, This particular entity is the Carlos Lezama Archives and
Caribbean Cultural Center (CLACC-C); its mission is to educate communi-
ties regarding Caribbean heritage through the establishment of an insti-
tution devoted to research and development; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Center upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Cultural Center.
