LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Brinckerhoff Family upon the occa-
sion of its designation for special honor by the Dutchess County
Regional Chamber of Commerce on February 7, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Brinckerhoff Family upon the occasion of its designation for special
honor by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce at its Annual
Gala on February 7, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Brinckerhoff Family have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, A shining example of what a businessperson can contribute to
the region, H. Todd Brinckerhoff joined the Connecticut Mutual Life
Insurance Company after graduating from Hobart College and has been on
the forefront of the business community for nearly a half a century; and
WHEREAS, In 1961, H. Todd Brinckerhoff, along with his partner John
Neuville, formed Brinckerhoff and Neuville Insurance, which has grown
into one of the larger and more successful businesses in the region,
employing 30 people who call Dutchess and Putnam counties home; and
WHEREAS, H. Todd Brinckerhoff launched a second business, Tri County
Planning Services, in 1985, which provides medical insurance and serves
10 chambers of commerce throughout the Hudson River Valley; and
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, H. Todd Brinckerhoff is
active with the Fishkill Rotary, area chambers of commerce, and served
on the boards of Mount Saint Mary College, Vassar Brothers Hospital and
the Fishkill Rural Cemetery; he was also one of the founders of the
Fishkill Bank and Trust Company, which eventually became M & T Bank; and
WHEREAS, In addition, H. Todd Brinckerhoff has been actively involved
with Marist College for many years; he served as a devoted trustee and
advisor for more than a decade and was the inspiration and principal
proponent of the Hudson River Valley Institute; and
WHEREAS, H. Todd Brinckerhoff is not the only Brinckerhoff dedicated
to bettering the community; his wife, Beverly Brinckerhoff, is a Vassar
Brothers Hospital volunteer, a Vassar Brothers Hospital Foundation board
member, and serves on the Locust Grove Board, as well as donating her
time at the local libraries and PTAs; and
WHEREAS, Daughters Mary and Margaret Brinckerhoff and Barbara Teed
follow in the active steps of their parents; Mary Brinckerhoff serves as
vice chair on Brinckerhoff and Neuville's board, as well as being
employed by the George Munsterman Agency, Barbara Teed volunteers her
time at public schools, and Margaret Brinckerhoff is Vice President at
DKNY; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Brinckerhoff Family upon the occasion of its designation for
special honor by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce on

February 7, 2009, and to wish them continued success in all of their
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Brinckerhoff Family.
