LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the tragic death of 15 year-old Matthew
H. Davis of Buffalo, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is deeply moved to inscribe upon its
records this remembrance for Matthew H. Davis, a young man of incredible
perseverance whose fortitude and optimism were greater than any personal
hardship he faced; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to mourn the tragic
death of 15 year-old Matthew H. Davis of Buffalo, Erie County, New York,
who died on Saturday, June 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Davis was a beloved eighth-grade student at Harvey
Austin School 97 in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Matthew H. Davis is survived by his mother, Lucretia A.
(Anthony Cody) Rivers; his father, Jeronica G. Davis, Sr.; brother, Dave
Burnett, Vincent Rivers, Jeronica G. Davis Jr., Julius Davis, Willie
Belton, William Belton, and Michael Taylor; and grandparents, Lucretia
(Harold Tucker, Sr.) Rivers, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and
cousins; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Matthew H. Davis leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic death of 15 year-old Matthew Davis of Buffalo, New
York, knowing that his memory will remain in the hearts of all those who
had the honor of knowing him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Matthew Davis.
