LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Martin L. Dewitt upon the occasion of
his designation as the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton 2009 Youth of
the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and serve as role models
for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Martin L. Dewitt upon the occasion of his designation as the Boys and
Girls Club of Binghamton 2009 Youth of the Year; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton for three
years, Martin L. Dewitt is currently the President of the Keystone Club,
a group of kids who meet on a regular basis to organize events and
services at the club and in the community; and
WHEREAS, Martin L. Dewitt also participates in the Hire-a-Teen program
where members of the community call the Boys and Girls Club of Bingham-
tom to request teens to work at their homes in various odd jobs includ-
ing removing snow and moving furniture; and
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the best potential which is inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth, Martin L. Dewitt has established a
purposefulness of life and brought enduring honor to his family and
community through his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Martin
L. Dewitt now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers, friends
and family; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation, are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and
recognized by all the citizens of the great State of New York; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Martin L. Dewitt upon the occasion of his designation as the Boys
and Girls Club of Binghamton 2009 Youth of the Year, and extend to him
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of his response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model he represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Martin L. Dewitt.
