LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 24th Anniversary of the School
for Language and Communication Development

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations which are committed to enhancing the
quality of education in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 24th Anniversary of the School for Language and Communication
Development on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at its Evening of Honor Gala;
and
WHEREAS, Since 1985, the School for Language and Communication Devel-
opment has built a comprehensive program which addresses the needs of
children with language disorders, including those along the autism spec-
trum continuum; and
WHEREAS, The School for Language and Communication Development
currently serves over 350 children from all over Long Island and New
York City at two particular sites, one in Glen Cove and the other in
Woodside, Queens; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 24th Anniversary of the School for Language and Communi-
cation Development; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Abrams, Community Development.
