LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sandra Montes upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Flushing Hospital Medical
Center on September 16, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community and their profession; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sandra Montes upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Flushing Hospital Medical Center at its Celebration! '09 to
be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Russo's on the Bay, Howard
Beach, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Sandra Montes moved to New York
at the early age of three; she was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from
Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School; for the past 17 years she has
been a proud resident of Queens; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Montes began her esteemed career as a Pharmacy Techni-
cian at Flushing Hospital Medical Center 10 years ago; since that time,
she has been a HazMat Trainer, Secretary of the Health and Safety
Committee, a medical interpreter and has participated in rallies to
Albany for health care reform; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, Sandra Montes has also walked for the Pediatric
Wing renovation as well as Strides against Cancer and Relay for Life; in
recognition of her unwavering efforts she has been named as a Flushing
Hospital Employee of the Month; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Sandra Montes has been
called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sandra Montes has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Sandra Montes has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sandra Montes upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Flushing Hospital Medical Center on September 16,
2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sandra Montes.
