LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Macchio upon
the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary

WHEREAS, Ralph Macchio and Rosalie DeSantis were united in marriage on
July 25, 1959, at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Wyandah, Long
Island, New York; and
WHEREAS, The couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary
surrounded by their family and friends at a party at their home on Long
Island; and
WHEREAS, They are the proud parents of Ralph G. Macchio, Jr. and his
wife, Phyllis, Steven J. Macchio and his wife, Deborah, and have six
grandchildren, Julia Rose, Daniel Ralph, Gino Steven, Sabrina Jade,
Savanna Loren and Nicolette Jolie; and
WHEREAS, Ralph and Rosalie Macchio are and always have been a tower of
strength, support, understanding and limitless love for their family;
and
WHEREAS, Their love, devotion, caring, sensitivity and responsiveness
to their family, friends and all who know them are their hallmark and
tradition; and
WHEREAS, Ralph and Rosalie Macchio stay very busy managing their
multifaceted businesses on Long Island, as well as in Upstate New York,
Florida and Indiana and continue to pursue new ventures; and
WHEREAS, In 1962, Ralph and Rosalie Macchio opened their first busi-
ness, a laundromat, which grew to several more; due to the need for
wastewater disposal, the business RGM was also born in 1962; it grew for
the next 26 years and became a well-respected sanitary/industrial waste
company on Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Ralph Macchio was one of the first members who formed the
Long Island Liquid Waste Association and was also the founder of the
National Association of Waste Transporters which is now global; and
WHEREAS, In February 1998, at the Pumper's Annual Trade Show, Ralph
Macchio was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award; not only did he
receive this great honor but it was named after him and is given annual-
ly at the trade show; and
WHEREAS, Through all of this Rosalie Macchio has been his partner in
business as well as life, and has always been supportive of his
ventures; she is the recipient of the Lifetime of Support Award; and
WHEREAS, Ralph and Rosalie Macchio have lived and continue to live
their lives with great dignity and genuine grace, always demonstrating a
deep and continuing concern for human values and ideals, and in so
doing, they have inspired others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, This meaningful occasion is a result of the love, hard work
and spirit that this couple has invested in their marriage; and
WHEREAS, These same values they have passed to their loved ones,
producing a family that is close-knit and supportive of its individual
members, public-minded in its relations to the community and committed
to the ideals of citizenship upon which this Nation was founded; and
WHEREAS, Ralph and Rosalie Macchio have touched the lives of their
family and many friends through the shining example of their marriage,
which is a testament to the devotion and admiration which they possess
for one another; and
WHEREAS, The longevity of this enduring marriage truly marks a mile-
stone in life's journey, an event of personal triumph and joy; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an occa-
sion of such importance is brought to our attention, the same should be
memorialized by us for the edification and emulation of others; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ralph and Rosalie Macchio upon the occasion of their 50th
Wedding Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ralph and Rosalie Macchio.
