LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dan Ramirez upon the occasion of
his selection as Warwick High School Student-Athlete of the Week by the
Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success, both athletically as well as academ-
ically, have inspired and brought pride to their school and community;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Dan Ramirez upon the occasion of his selection as Warwick High
School Student-Athlete of the Week by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance
Agency; and
WHEREAS, Dan Ramirez, the senior cross-country and track and field
star, has been a big part of the Wildcats 8-0 start in dual meets this
season; and
WHEREAS, He placed three times at the Nationals in his three years of
indoor and outdoor track and decided to run cross-country this fall; and
WHEREAS, Dan Ramirez's impact has been immediate and provides senior
leadership to a young team; the Wildcats placed second in recent Wave
Mania Invite to nationally ranked Don Bosco Prep; and
WHEREAS, He is a solid student who maintains an 87 overall average; he
plans to study pre-medicine as an undergraduate and has narrowed his
college interests to the University of Massachusetts, University of
Vermont and Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Dan Ramirez is a three-season runner (Cross-Country, Indoor
Track and Outdoor Track) who excels in the 800 meters; he also volun-
teers with the Warwick Ambulance (EMS) where he serves as captain of the
junior corp; and
WHEREAS, Dan Ramirez is the son of Danny and Diana Ramirez, and the
brother of Brian Ramirez, all of whom are very proud of him and rejoice
in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Dan Ramirez's overall record is outstanding; he was loyally
and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the communi-
ty at large; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Dan Ramirez has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dan Ramirez upon the occasion of his selection as Warwick
High School Student-Athlete of the Week; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Ramirez, Bellvale, New York.
