LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sandy Wolf upon the occasion of receiv-
ing the Joseph R. Bernstein Award from the Mental Health Association of
Rockland County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sandy Wolf upon the occasion of receiving the Joseph R. Bernstein Award
from the Mental Health Association of Rockland County; and
WHEREAS, The Director of Community Support Services for Adults for the
Mental Health Association of Rockland County since 1999, Sandy Wolf
began her involvement with the organization volunteering at the Elmwood
Club; and
WHEREAS, In 1974, Sandy Wolf joined the staff of the Mental Health
Association of Rockland County as a mental health worker and has worked
in various direct care and administrative positions since that time; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Wolf served as a recreation therapist for two years,
then as Team Leader and Coordinator of Special Events and Outreach; she
developed the Young Adult Program, was a Team Member and Supervisor of
its Prevocational Work Unit from 1983 to 1986, and served as Program
Coordinator of the Transportation Department for the Elmwood Club for 10
years; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Sandy Wolf took on a new challenge as Assistant
Director of Rehabilitative Services and Program Director of the Social
Clubs; under her direction, these programs have grown significantly and
provide an important source of social opportunities, community inte-
gration experiences, education and empowerment for people with mental
illness; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Wolf also served for several years as the Director of
both Adult Treatment Services and Community Support Services; as a
volunteer, she is matched with two women through Compeer and serves as
the board member of NAMI-FAMILYA; and
WHEREAS, With Sandy Wolf throughout have been her three children,
Tracey Drayer, Jamie Wolf-Rivera and David Wolf, and seven grandchil-
dren, Joel, Jessica, Max, Marc, Michael, Jacob and Leah, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sandy Wolf upon the occasion of receiving the Joseph R. Bernstein
Award from the Mental Health Association of Rockland County, and to wish
her continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sandy Wolf.
