LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Virginia Clark upon the occasion of
receiving the 2009 Athena Award from the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce
and Canandaigua Business and Professional Women's Group
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Virginia Clark upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Athena Award from
the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and Canandaigua Business and Profes-
sional Women's Group; and
WHEREAS, The Vice President of Community Affairs for Constellation
Brands, Virginia Clark returned to Canandaigua, New York after two years
of college and opened Dollinger Travel with the goal of building
relationships with local businesses; and
WHEREAS, The first account for Virginia Clark was Canandaigua Wine,
and as the company grew, so did their relationship; in 1988, she created
what is now the in-house travel department at Constellation Brands; and
WHEREAS, A true citizen of Canandaigua, New York, Virginia Clark
believes in giving back to the community she loves so much; she oversaw
the construction of the New York Wine and Culinary Center and the
Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, both of which
opened on time and on budget in 2006; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Virginia Clark led the project team for building
the new project headquarters for Constellation Brands in 2007, while
working with Richard Sands and Laurie O'Shaunnesy on a campaign to
expand the Canandaigua YMCA; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Clark received a Bachelor of Science degree with
highest honors from Rochester Institute of Technology and used the
Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center as her thesis
for rebuilding an operational model to earn a Master of Science degree
in 2008; and
WHEREAS, With Virginia Clark throughout have been her husband, Rob,
their three daughters, Shaunna, Allison and Shannon, and granddaughter,
Sara Kate, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Virginia Clark upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 Athena
Award from the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and Canandaigua Business
and Professional Women's Group, and to wish her continued success in all
of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Virginia Clark.
