LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Captain Francis Bedetti, III upon the
occasion of his retirement on December 30, 2009 after 28 years of
distinguished service with the City of Newburgh Fire Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in the Empire State are indelibly enriched by the
faithful and dedicated service of those who devote their life, as fire-
fighters, to serving and protecting their community, lauding particular-
ly their unwavering courage and dedication in the daily performance of
their duties; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Captain Fran-
cis Bedetti, III upon the occasion of his retirement on December 30,
2009 after 28 years of distinguished service with the City of Newburgh
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, For 28 years he served his community as a consummate profes-
sional in the arduous field of firefighting and fire protection and
prevention; and
WHEREAS, Fire departments are an integral part of community protection
services in every locality in New York State; during the course of his
dedicated service Captain Francis Bedetti, III valiantly responded to
all types of fire emergencies, risking his life every day to help save
the lives of others and to protect homes and property from the
destruction caused by fire; and
WHEREAS, Captain Francis Bedetti, III has rendered faithful, conscien-
tious and valuable service to the people of Newburgh; he served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, justly earning the admiration, esteem
and affection of his colleagues and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the dedicated
efforts of public servants such as Captain Francis Bedetti, III, who
unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation of order and the
protection of others, are worthy and due the full praise and recognition
of this Legislative Body and the communities they serve so well; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Captain Francis Bedetti, III upon the occasion of his retirement
on December 30, 2009 after 28 years of distinguished service with the
City of Newburgh Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Captain Francis Bedetti, III.
