LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Charles Mangiaracina upon the occasion
of his induction into the Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame on
March 5, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles Mangiaracina upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Kearney High School Hall of Fame at a Dinner Dance to be held on Friday,
March 5, 2010, at Sirico's Caterers, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Queens, New York, Charles Mangiaracina has been a
resident of Whitestone Queens his entire life; he attended St. Luke's
Parish Elementary School, Holy Cross High School and Iona College, where
he graduated, Cum Laude, in 1975, with a Bachelor of Business Adminis-
tration degree in Accounting; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Charles Mangiaracina joined Munns & Dobbins,
a Certified Public Accounting firm; displaying extreme competence,
extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership, he was made partner
in 1986; and
WHEREAS, Today, the firm is known as O'Connor Davies Munns and
Dobbins, LLP (ODMD) and is currently ranked 66th in the United States,
according to ACCOUNTING TODAY'S "Top 100 Firms"; it is also the 18th
largest accounting firm in the New York Metropolitan area according to
CRAIN'S NEW YORK BUSINESS and one of the largest firms in Westchester
County according to the WESTCHESTER COUNTY BUSINESS JOURNAL; and
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Charles Mangiaracina has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Charles Mangiaracina has over 35 years of public accounting
experience, specializing in consulting and audits of not-for-profit
organizations, social service and health and welfare agencies; and
WHEREAS, As a result, Charles Mangiaracina serves various not-for-pro-
fits as an advisor and board member and has generously donated his time
and expertise in the areas of grant writing, financing and accounting;
and
WHEREAS, Presently, Charles Mangiaracina is the Executive Vice Presi-
dent of the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers Civic Association, a Trustee of
the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers Community Center, a Board Member of the
Booster's Beach Land Corporation and a past President of the Dwarf-Gi-
raffe Athletic League; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Charles Mangiaracina has served on various
committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
the New York City and Westchester County chapters of the New York State
Society of Certified Public Accountants; and
WHEREAS, A man of great faith, Charles Mangiaracina is a devoted
parishioner of St. Luke's Parish, where he serves as a Eucharistic
Minister and a member of the Parish Pastoral Council; and
WHEREAS, In honor of his efforts of in-depth magnitude, Charles
Mangiaracina is the recipient of the Joseph DiMarinis Award from the
Dwarf-Giraffe Athletic League and the Joseph Regan Award from the Great-
er Whitestone Taxpayers Community Center; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Charles Mangiaracina has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Charles Mangiaracina has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles Mangiaracina upon the occasion of his induction into the
Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame on March 5, 2010; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed; be tran-
smitted to Charles Mangiaracina.
