LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Isabel DiMola upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition as recipient of the Bensonhurst
West End Community Council 2010 Educator of the Year Award
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, It is also the practice of this Legislative Body to take note
of and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Isabel DiMola upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition as recipient of the Bensonhurst West End Community Council
2010 Educator of the Year Award; this auspicious occasion will be cele-
brated on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at its 49th Annual Dinner-Dance, to
be held at El Caribe, 5945 Strickland Avenue, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Isabel DiMola has been an educator in New York City's public
schools for 18 years; her education began in District 21 as a student at
P.S. 216, I.S. 303 and Edward R. Murrow High School; and
WHEREAS, Graduating with a Bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College in
1992, Isabel DiMola later completed a Master's degree at Brooklyn
College in 1996; she also received an Advanced Certificate in Adminis-
tration and Supervision in 1999 from the College of Staten Island; and
WHEREAS, Isabel DiMola began her educational career as a social
studies teacher at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York;
after teaching for seven and a half years, she became an Assistant Prin-
cipal at Richard R. Green High School of Teaching and was appointed
Principal of the school in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving as the acting Superintendent for District
21, prior to this assignment, Isabel DiMola served as the Queens High
School Superintendent, supervising forty-five high schools in Queens; in
addition, she served as a high school superintendent in Brooklyn, where
she was responsible for the supervision of fifty high schools and as a
senior achievement facilitator supporting twenty-five schools grades
K-12; and
WHEREAS, Isabel DiMola has vast administrative and supervisory experi-
ence in instruction, pupil personnel services, budget analysis, manage-
ment and data analysis, problem solving, curriculum and human resources
development across all grade levels; and
WHEREAS, The driving force behind Isabel DiMola's commitment to public
education is ensuring that all children have the opportunity to succeed
and participate as active citizens; and
WHEREAS, Isabel DiMola has worked tirelessly throughout her career to
provide meaningful educational opportunities for students, partnering
with all constituencies to support the instructional program in schools
and the social emotional development of children; under her leadership,
schools have been focused on implementing effective strategies within
schools and educating each child in each school each day; and
WHEREAS, A member of several professional organizations, Isabel DiMola
has brought great credit upon herself by continually demonstrating an
impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of the educational programs and opportunities
offered at the schools where she has served; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Isabel DiMola has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Isabel DiMola upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition as recipient of the Bensonhurst West End Community
Council 2010 Educator of the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Isabel DiMola.
