LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sylvan Klein upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Community Leadership Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sylvan Klein upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a
Community Leadership Award; and
WHEREAS, The Community Leadership Award is presented to people who
have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their community and have had
a positive effect on their community through their work and dedication;
and
WHEREAS, Sylvan Klein served for 33 years as a guidance counselor at
Midwood High School in Brooklyn; he is currently retired; and
WHEREAS, Past President at West End Temple in Neponsit, Sylvan Klein
currently serves as President of Belle Harbor Property Owners Associ-
ation; he has also been a member of Community Board 14 since 1999; and
WHEREAS, Sylvan Klein has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sylvan Klein has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Rose, and their chil-
dren Joshua, Jessica, and Alanna, and their grandson, Jasper, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Sylvan Klein's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sylvan Klein upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a Community Leadership Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sylvan Klein.
