LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor David A. Paterson to
proclaim Tuesday, March 23, 2010, as Social Work Day in the State of New
York

WHEREAS, The mission of the Brooklyn Children's Center at 1819 Bergen
Street in Brooklyn, New York, is to promote an environment for the
development of healthy children and adolescents; and
WHEREAS, To achieve its mission the Brooklyn Children's Center
provides services which include: inpatient hospital care, day treatment,
family services, community residence, intensive case management, and
adolescent sexual behavior management; and
WHEREAS, All services offered by the Brooklyn Children's Center are
available to children and adolescents, 17 years and younger, whose resi-
dence is the borough of Brooklyn; it provides services regardless of
race, color, creed, disability, sex or national origin; and
WHEREAS, The Director of Social Work and the social work staff at the
Brooklyn Children's Center, a children's psychiatric center operated by
the New York State Office of Mental Health, conscientiously and tire-
lessly provide mental health services to children and adolescents in the
Ocean Hill neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The month of March 2010 is celebrated as Social Work Month;
and
WHEREAS, It is most appropriate that this great Empire State recognize
Tuesday, March 23, 2010, as Social Work Day at the Brooklyn Children's
Center in celebration of the month of March as Social Work Month; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor David A. Paterson to proclaim Tuesday, March 23,
2010, as Social Work Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Brooklyn Children's Center, 1819 Bergen Street, Brooklyn,
New York 11233.
