LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Erin VanDunk upon the occasion of
her designation for special honor by the Cornell University Cooperative
Extension 4-H Program on March 3, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Erin VanDunk upon the occasion of her designation for special honor
by the Cornell University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program on March 3,
2009; and
WHEREAS, A 15-year-old from Wallkill, New York, Erin VanDunk has been
an active member of 4-H for eight years and joined her current club, the
Hamptonburgh Highlights, four years ago; and
WHEREAS, For the past three years, Erin VanDunk has gone to the State
Fair as an emcee and journalist and has also presented Public Presenta-
tions at the State Level for the past two years, receiving the first
place medal in speech in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Erin VanDunk also emcees the annual International Night and
participated in Fun And Fitness Night with her club and is a Choose
Health Ambassador, who co-taught a workshop for Silent Cooking Demon-
strations; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction and superlative abili-
ty, Erin VanDunk has established a purposefulness of life rarely
achieved in youthful years; she represents the best development of the
potential which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth;
and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Erin
VanDunk now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, family and
friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Erin VanDunk upon the occasion of her designation for
special honor by the Cornell University Cooperative Extension 4-H
Program on March 3, 2009 and to extend to her its best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and well-being, fully confident of her
response to a promising future and appreciative of the model she repres-
ents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Erin VanDunk.
