LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of
her induction into the Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame on March
6, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen
field of endeavor, in their community, or through a lifetime of good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of her induction into the
Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame at the school's Hall of Fame
Dinner Dance, to be held at Sirico's Caterers in Brooklyn on March 6,
2009; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Kearney High School, Brooklyn, New York, has a proud
tradition of a strong educational program, founded in faith and encour-
aging personal and educational development, coupled with commitment to
faith and to engaged citizenship; and
WHEREAS, The Bishop Kearney High School Hall of Fame honors outstand-
ing members of the Bishop Kearney family and community who exemplify and
support Kearney's mission to educate young women and whose lives and
accomplishments exemplify the tenets of the school; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco, Principal of Public School 207, the Eliza-
beth G. Leary School, truly merits such recognition; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco, the daughter of Elizabeth and James Allen,
was born and raised in Brooklyn; she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help
and Holy Innocents Elementary Schools and graduated from Bishop Kearney
High School in 1980; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding student, she went on to attend St. Joseph's
College in Brooklyn on a full scholarship, majoring in Child
Study/Special Education with an additional concentration in history,
graduating, summa cum laude, in 1984 and, while working, continued her
studies, earning a master's degree in education from Brooklyn College of
The City University of New York in 1987 and an Advanced Certificate in
Administration and Supervision in 1991; and
WHEREAS, Maintaining her interest in working with children, she became
a teacher with the New York City Department of Education in September
1984, beginning her professional career as a first grade teacher at
Public School 207, the Elizabeth G. Leary School in Brooklyn's Marine
Park, where she eventually became Principal; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco taught first grade for five years and fifth
grade for three years before being named Assistant Principal of P.S. 207
in 1995 and Principal in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco may take just pride in having transformed
P.S. 207 from an elementary school into an exemplary pre-kindergarten
through grade 8 school serving 1,100 students in two buildings; the
school has flourished under her leadership; in 2007, it was honored by
the New York DAILY NEWS as one of Brooklyn's top ten schools and, in
June 2009, it will proudly graduate its first eighth grade class; and
WHEREAS, With Mary Allen Bosco throughout have been her husband of 20
years, Salvatore Bosco, and their children, Lauren Elizabeth and James,
all of whom are proud to be part of her life and rejoice in her accom-
plishments; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco's induction into the Bishop Kearney High
School Hall of Fame is a well-deserved and fitting recognition of her
achievements and contributions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of her induction into the Bish-
op Kearney High School Hall of Fame on March 6, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Allen Bosco.
