LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of
her designation by the Association of Orthodox Jewish Teachers as the
recipient of its Brooklyn Elementary School Principal of the Year Award
on April 25, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose lives
have been committed to the pursuit of excellence in the education of the
youth of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of her designation by the
Association of Orthodox Jewish Teachers of the New York City Public
Schools as the recipient of its Brooklyn Elementary School Principal of
the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco, Principal of P.S. 207K, will be honored at
the organization's 40th Annual Luncheon, to be held at The Renaissance
in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, April 25, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco was born in Brooklyn, the first child of
Elizabeth and James Allen; she graduated from Bishop Kearney High School
in 1980 and attended St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn on a full scholar-
ship majoring in Child Study/Special Education with a concentration in
history and graduating Cum Laude in 1984; and
WHEREAS, She went on to earn a master's degree in education from
Brooklyn College in 1987, and in 1991, an Advanced Certificate in Admin-
istration and Supervision; and
WHEREAS, Enthusiastic about working with children, Mary Allen Bosco
became a New York City Department of Education teacher in September
1984, beginning her teaching career in the school where she is now the
Principal, the Elizabeth Leary School, P.S. 207; she taught First Grade
for eight years and Fifth Grade for three years before becoming the
Assistant Principal in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Mary Allen Bosco has been the Principal of P.S. 207 in Marine
Park, Brooklyn since 1997; she has transformed the previous elementary
school into an exemplary Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 Public School;
comprised of two buildings and 1180 students, the school has truly
flourished under her leadership; and
WHEREAS, With Mary Allen Bosco throughout have been her husband of
more than 20 years, Salvatore Bosco, and their children, Lauren and
James, all of whom are proud to be part of her life and rejoice in her
many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such accomplishment are brought to our attention it is appropri-
ate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the edification and
emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Allen Bosco upon the occasion of her designation as the
recipient of the Association of Orthodox Jewish Teachers' Brooklyn
Elementary School Principal of the Year Award on April 25, 2010; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Allen Bosco.
