LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the life and accomplishments of
Donald E. Brady, Sr., distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Former members of the Armed Services from the State of New
York, who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, The late Donald E. Brady, Sr. will be honored on Monday, May
3, 2010, at the Albany County "Honor a Veteran Ceremony" to be held at
the North Albany American Legion Post 1610 in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Donald E. Brady, Sr. of Albany, New York, died on June 24,
2009; born on February 13, 1933, he served in the United States Navy
from February 4, 1953, to January 28, 1955; and
WHEREAS, During his active duty military service, Donald E. Brady, Sr.
served as an E-3 aboard the USS Tunxis during the Korean conflict and
received the National Defense Service Medal; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Donald E. Brady, Sr. was a past
Commander of the North Albany American Legion Post 1610 and was its
County Chairman of the Oratorical Committee, Vice Commander and Chaplin;
he was also Chaplin of the Albany County Honor a Veteran Program; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Donald E. Brady, Sr. was an Adult Acolyte and
Reader at St. Vincent De Paul's; he enjoyed buying hats, playing golf
and traveling; and
WHEREAS, Donald E. Brady, Sr. is survived by his wife, Christine; and
by his sons, Harold and Patrick, and by his sisters, Dolores Lazzaro and
Sarah Jones; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of Donald E. Brady, Sr., distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Donald E. Brady, Sr.
