LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Max Paymar, Melisa Baena, and Michael
Weiss upon the occasion of performing with the All-State Instrumental
and Vocal Jazz Ensembles on March 9, 2009, during Music In Our Schools
Month

WHEREAS, The New York State School Music Association has worked tire-
lessly for more than three decades to promote music in our schools with
its annual Music In Our Schools Month at the Empire State Plaza in Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, Music In Our Schools Month provides an opportunity for the
young people of New York State to greatly broaden their musical experi-
ence, to welcome the challenges and embrace the joys of performing, and
to secure the lifelong inspiration of music; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Max Paymar,
Melisa Baena, and Michael Weiss upon the occasion of performing with the
All-State Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensembles on March 9, 2009, during
Music In Our Schools Month; and
WHEREAS, The All-State Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensembles,
comprised of students of the highest musical and academic caliber, will
be performing in Meeting Room 6 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, to
kick off Music In Our Schools Month; and
WHEREAS, The officers and committee members of the New York State
School Music Association have always shown the utmost dedication in
helping to showcase the outstanding musical skill and talent of so many
of the State's finest young musicians; and
WHEREAS, All of the young musicians involved in this month-long cele-
bration are deserving of their own recognition and spotlight, for their
remarkable commitment and hours of practice in perfecting their musical
abilities; and
WHEREAS, Talent, dedication, and countless hours of practice have made
Max Paymar of South Side High School, Rockville Centre, New York, and
Melisa Baena of Valley Stream Central High School, Valley Stream, New
York, the outstanding Jazz musicians they are today, and Michael Weiss
of School 7 Oceanside High School, Oceanside, New York, the outstanding
Jazz vocalist that he is today; and
WHEREAS, Max Paymar, Melisa Baena, and Michael Weiss work hard at
their music rehearsals, classroom assignments and practice sessions,
fully aware that the amount of time and energy they are willing to
expend directly affects the quality of their music; and
WHEREAS, Max Paymar, Melisa Baena, and Michael Weiss, along with their
parents and teachers, can be justifiably proud of their musical achieve-
ments and their performances with the All-State Instrumental and Vocal
Jazz Ensembles during Music In Our Schools Month; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Max Paymar, Melisa Baena, and Michael Weiss upon the occasion of
performing with the All-State Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensembles on
March 9, 2009, during Music In Our Schools Month; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Max Paymar, Melisa Baena, and Michael Weiss.
