LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mark Gregorio for receiving the Partners
in Mercy Award from the Mercy Home for Children

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Mark Gregorio has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mark Gregorio
for receiving the Partners in Mercy Award from the Mercy Home for Chil-
dren on Sunday, May 2, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Mercy Home has nurtured those in need;
today, it supports individuals with developmental disabilities in living
full and interesting lives; the Home does this in its residential,
supportive and respite programs, each of which emphasizes the importance
of being part of the communities in which one lives; and
WHEREAS, Mark Gregorio has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Mark Gregorio has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Mark Gregorio is President of Transel Elevator Inc.; he grew
up in Brooklyn and graduated from a specialty school serving the New
York region's power and service companies, becoming the youngest foreman
in the history of the New York City Transit Authority's Power Division;
he joined Millar Elevator Industries as an apprentice, and within three
years became the foreman responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining
over 300 elevators; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Mark Gregorio accepted a minority partnership in
Transel Elevator Inc., which had 15 employees and serviced 120 elevators
in New York City; today, Transel is the largest independent elevator
company in New York with over 200 employees; his clients include the
most respected developers, property owners and management companies
whose portfolios carry some of the most prestigious commercial and resi-
dential addresses in New York City; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maureen and their
three sons, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Mark Gregorio has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mark Gregorio for receiving the Partners in Mercy Award from the
Mercy Home for Children; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mark Gregorio.
