LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Cheryl Hall upon the occasion of
receiving the New York State Senate's Annual Contemporary Women of
Distinction Award

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Cheryl Hall upon the occasion of receiving the New York State
Senate's Annual Contemporary Women of Distinction Award on Tuesday, May
25, 2010, in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Hall has given not only of her time and energies, but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for this special honor; and
WHEREAS, The Executive Director of the Caribbean Women's Health Asso-
ciation, a non-profit community organization based in Brooklyn, New
York, Cheryl Hall joined Lutheran Family Health Centers/Sunset Park
Family Health Center to open the Caribbean American Family Health Center
(CAFHC) in partnership with the Caribbean Women's Health Association;
she now serves as Vice President of Governmental and Corporate Affairs
for the Lutheran Family Health Centers; and
WHEREAS, Cheryl Hall accompanied Secretary of Health and Human
Services Tommy Thompson to Guyana; shortly thereafter, she was appointed
to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, Cheryl Hall led a delegation of health ministers
from the Caribbean to the CAFHC to begin discussions in response to the
developing HIV/AIDS epidemic; a true asset to society, she is also one
of the authors of the HIV/AIDS MANUAL FOR FAITH COMMUNITIES; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cheryl Hall upon the occasion of receiving the New York State
Senate's Annual Contemporary Women of Distinction Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cheryl Hall.
