LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ann P. Driscoll upon the occasion of
her designation as the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in
Mahopac, New York, on March 8, 2009

WHEREAS, Saint Patrick's Day is a time for all to celebrate the rich
heritage of the Irish people, unlimited in their contributions to this
greatly diverse land of ours; and
WHEREAS, A Saint Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides an opportunity
for people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Ann P. Driscoll upon the occasion of her designation as the Grand
Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Mahopac, New York, on Sunday,
March 8, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Bronx, New York, to Irish-American parents, Ann
P. Driscoll is the youngest of four children; she attended St. Philip
Neri school and parish, where she would meet her lifelong companion,
Stephen P. Driscoll; and
WHEREAS, The couple married and moved to California where Stephen P.
Driscoll was stationed in the United States Navy; soon after, their son,
Barry, was born; after graduating from Watterson College, she and her
family moved back to New York, first the Bronx, then Croton, and finally
settling in the town of Lake Carmel, Putnam County, New York; and
WHEREAS, Ann P. Driscoll joined the MTA Metro-North Railroad and 19
years later serves as Senior Manager of Human Resources; along the way,
she has developed a strong passion for the Yankees, rock music, sports
cars, and extensive traveling; and
WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, Ann P. Driscoll lost her beloved
husband, New York City Police Officer Stephen P. Driscoll, ESU-4, at the
World Trade Center; she continues to carry on his spirit through her
tireless work with the Fraternal Order of Police, the PBA's Widow's and
Children's Fund, Tuesday's Children and countless organizations which
carry her and Stephen's goal of community service; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's
Day Parade, Ann P. Driscoll embodies the spirit and the cherished ideals
and values of Irish-Americans of this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those individ-
uals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ann P. Driscoll upon the occasion of her designation as the
Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Mahopac, New York, on
March 8, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann P. Driscoll.
