LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Firefighter Bradley Badali upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Bronze Medal of Valor

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations while in the
course of performing their job duties, nobly risking their own lives in
an effort to preserve the life of another; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Firefighter Bradley Badali upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Bronze Medal of Valor for his heroic efforts and astute
action while answering a call of an apartment building on fire with
people trapped; and
WHEREAS, A 2007 Victor Central School graduate, 21-year-old Bradley
Badali is currently serving as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency
Medical Technician for the Berwyn Heights Fire Department in Maryland
where he attends college; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, October 17, 2009, a call was put out of an
apartment building on fire with people trapped inside; and
WHEREAS, The first arriving unit, Berwyn Heights Truck 814 with Fire-
fighter Badali aboard, reported heavy fire showing from the second floor
and immediately asked for a second alarm to be transmitted; and
WHEREAS, Being a weekend, the firefighters quickly encountered many
residents trapped on balconies and in the interior stairwell of the
first and second floors, as well as several injured residents lying on
the ground; and
WHEREAS, The enclosed interior stairwell was charged with high heat,
and thick smoke made it impossible to pass; without hesitation and with-
out the protection of a charged hand-line, the crew from Truck 814
rescued seven occupants from the burning building using ladders; and
WHEREAS, Numerous residents were transported to area hospitals with a
variety of injuries and all survived; the quick action of the first
responders prevented more serious and possible fatal injuries from
occurring; and
WHEREAS, For his heroic actions, Firefighter Bradley Badali, along
with seven fellow firefighters, were awarded the illustrious Bronze
Medal of Valor at an awards luncheon that was held on April 26, 2010;
and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Badali is also a member of the Farmington Volun-
teer Fire Department, an Emergency Medical Technician at the
Victor/Farmington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a Troop 50 Eagle Scout;
and
WHEREAS, After high school, Firefighter Bradley Badali earned an Asso-
ciate's degree in Fire Protection Technology at Onondaga Community
College in Syracuse, New York; he moved to Maryland to pursue his Bach-
elor's degree in Fire Science at the University of Maryland University
College; and
WHEREAS, Today, Bradley Badali lives and works as a volunteer fire-
fighter and a state-certified EMT at the Berwyn Heights Fire Department
Station 14; and
WHEREAS, In his spontaneous and heroic actions, Bradley Badali demon-
strated his character and compassion for the welfare of others, exempli-
fying the best qualities inherent in our young people; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Firefighter Bradley Badali upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Bronze Medal of Valor, commending him for his consum-
mate courage and bravery which serves as an inspiration to us all; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Firefighter Bradley Badali.
