LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro upon
the occasion of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination to
the Priesthood

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to celebrate the
milestones of those within the State of New York who serve the spiritual
needs of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro upon the occasion of celebrating the
25th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at a Mass to be
held at St. Paul's Church in Oswego, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born on November 23, 1951, in Utica, New York, at St.
Elizabeth's Hospital, Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro attended pre-school
at St. Stanislaus School, grade K through 8 at St. Agnes School and
Proctor High School; and
WHEREAS, A 1973 graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Father Gaetano
Thomas Baccaro was enrolled in pre-theology for one year at LeMoyne
College and Aquinas House in Syracuse, New York; he attended Christ the
King Seminary in East Aurora, New York, for four years prior to his
Ordination into the Priesthood on June 8, 1985; and
WHEREAS, First assigned to the Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii in Syra-
cuse, New York, in 1985, Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro was subsequently
appointed Chaplain at Rome Catholic High School; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro was the Chaplain
for the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree and the Police Chaplain for the
Rome police force; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro was appointed Pastor
at St. John's Church in Liverpool, New York; he became Chaplain for the
Liverpool Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, Appointed Pastor of St. Paul's Church in Oswego, New York, in
June 2007, Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro was appointed Vicar of the
Northern Region in June 2009; and
WHEREAS, The hobbies of Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro are cooking,
carpentry and piano playing; and
WHEREAS, Spiritual guidance and nurturing are of great import to the
vitality and well-being of all people and every community of this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Instrumental in that deliverance are those men and women of
religious commitment who accept the responsibility of moral leadership
and render the wisdom of human understanding; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro upon the occasion of cele-
brating the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Gaetano Thomas Baccaro, Pastor, St. Paul's Church,
Oswego, New York.
