LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik upon
the occasion of receiving the Harbatzas HaTorah Award from the Yeshiva
Degel Hatorah on June 8, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik upon the occasion of receiving the
Harbatzas HaTorah Award from the Yeshiva Degel Hatorah at a reception to
be held at the Yeshiva of Spring Valley on Tuesday, June 8, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik have continually demon-
strated extreme competence, exceptional intelligence and diligent lead-
ership in their unwavering service to their community and Yeshiva Degel
Hatorah and subsequently have been designated for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Shraga Soloveitchik is a well-known Monsey personality,
following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was a beloved Rabbi in
Spring Valley for many years; his grandmother, a woman of stature in her
own right, was a master educator for some 50 years at the Bais Yaakov of
Monsey; and
WHEREAS, A brilliant mentor and teacher, Rabbi Shraga Soloveitchik has
been with Yeshiva Degel Hatorah for over a decade; the commitment he
provides to his students is truly extraordinary and the bond he forms
with his students is legendary; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik are the proud parents of
two children attending Yeshiva Degel Hatorah; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless endeavors on behalf of
Yeshiva Degel Hatorah and have always given of themselves unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik have
displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik upon the occasion of receiving
the Harbatzas HaTorah Award from the Yeshiva Degel Hatorah on June 8,
2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rabbi and Mrs. Shraga Soloveitchik.
