LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ann Chambers Meagher upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the 2010 Dutchess County Distin-
guished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America Hudson Valley Coun-
cil

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recognize
those extraordinary individuals who have made contributions to the
cultural enrichment of the State of New York and to the success and
progress of society in the course of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ann
Chambers Meagher upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2010 Dutchess County Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts
of America Hudson Valley Council; and
WHEREAS, Ann Meagher was named President and Chief Executive Officer
of the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce on March 15, 2005;
since that time, she has brought the Chamber and the Chamber's relation-
ship to the community back to life with excitement, value and extraor-
dinary showmanship; and
WHEREAS, Ann Meagher has introduced innovation and imagination into
all Chamber programming and has provided exceptional management, with a
keen focus on the Chamber's growth and value to its members, in addition
to its strength as an organization; and
WHEREAS, Under Ann Meagher's leadership, the Chamber now hosts a Top
Forty Under 40 program that is the largest business event in the Hudson
Valley Region; she also implemented new, innovative programming at the
Chamber which strongly supports women business owners; and
WHEREAS, Before she began at the Chamber, Ann Meagher was head of
Prudential Financial's External Affairs and Government Relations commu-
nications division; it was here where she worked on legislative and
regulatory issues of critical importance to the financial services
industry; prior to that, she led the Public Affairs Department of the
New York State Assembly Minority Conference; and
WHEREAS, Ann Meagher currently sits on the boards of the Community
Foundation of Dutchess County, Exchange Club of Southern Dutchess, SCORE
Advisory and the Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board (DCWIB); she
is also a member of the Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Miles of Hope
Foundation Boards, and serves as a Trustee of The Beacon Institute for
Rivers and Estuaries; and
WHEREAS, A girl scout herself, Ann Meagher was honored in 2007 by the
Dutchess County Girl Scouts Council with their annual "Seat of Honor"
award; she was also recognized at the 2008 Top Forty Under 40 awards
program for her leadership and commitment to community; and
WHEREAS, Ann Meagher is a proud product of the Wappingers Central
School System, and a graduate of Ithaca College where her focus was on
public communications and political science; both she and her husband,
Ran, live in the Town of Washington with their five-year-old son, Jack;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Ann Meagher and to wish her continued
success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ann Chambers Meagher upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2010 Dutchess County Distinguished Citizen Award from
the Boy Scouts of America Hudson Valley Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann Chambers Meagher.
