LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dorothy Filoramo upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Friend of People to People Award by
People to People Inc.

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dorothy Filoramo upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Friend of People to People Award by People to People Inc.; this
auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the organization's Rockland
Down at the Shore Celebration, to be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at
the Hilton Pearl River in Pearl River, New York; and
WHEREAS, Operating with the outstanding management and administration
of its Executive Director, Diane Serratore, People to People Inc. works
to help an ever-increasing number of struggling Rocklanders through
difficult times with dignity by providing food, clothing, school
supplies, refurbished computers and other support; it is a non-profit
organization that serves as the county's largest food pantry; and
WHEREAS, The Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Dominican
College, Dorothy Filoramo served as People to People Board President;
under her leadership the organization expanded from renting a small
out-of-the-way site to owning a strategically located and significantly
larger facility; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure as People to People Board President, Doro-
thy Filoramo implemented a strategic initiative that included Board
study days and recruited key members of Rockland County's business
community to serve on the Board; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dorothy Filoramo focused the Board's efforts on
fund development and oversaw the selection process for a new executive
director; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Filoramo's vision and commitment have been an inspi-
ration to all involved with the People to People organization; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Dorothy Filoramo has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dorothy Filoramo has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dorothy Filoramo upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Friend of People to People Award by People to People Inc.; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dorothy Filoramo.
