LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Stephen D. Chiaino upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition as the Immediate Past Presi-
dent of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association on June 17, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Stephen D. Chiaino upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition as the Immediate Past President of the Bay Ridge Lawyers
Association to be celebrated at its 56th Annual Dinner Dance to be held
on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Dyker Beach Golf Course, Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Stephen D. Chiaino has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and
profession; and
WHEREAS, Stephen D. Chiaino graduated from the New York Law School in
June 1995 and was admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars;
for the past 14 years he has been in private practice in New York; he
has focused his area of practice on residential and commercial real
estate transactions, which includes a variety of matters involving coop-
erative apartment corporations and condominium developments; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating from law school, Stephen D. Chiaino accepted
an Associate position with the Law Firm of Vanchieri & Ferrier, LLP, in
their Mortgage Closing Department; during his tenure with the firm, he
represented several major lending institutions in providing financing to
individuals for the acquisition and refinance of cooperative apartments,
residential and commercial real property; additionally, he represented
individual clients in a variety of matters including residential and
commercial real property transactions, lease negotiations, license
applications and commercial litigations; and
WHEREAS, In July of 2004, Stephen D. Chiaino joined the Law Offices of
Lawrence F. DiGiovanna; he continues to represent his clients in all
aspects of residential and commercial real estate law, but, increasing-
ly, has focused on cooperative and condominium law; he represents devel-
opers before the Investment Protection Bureau of the New York State
Attorney General's Office, and acts as General Counsel for numerous
cooperative apartment corporations and condominium associations; the
practice includes litigation related to real estate and cooperative and
condominium law issues; his position has also afforded him the opportu-
nity to lecture on the topic of Cooperative Transactions for the Brook-
lyn Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the enhancement of his profession, Stephen D.
Chiaino is an active member of several State and local Bar Associations,
including the New York State Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Associ-
ation, the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn, the Catholic
Lawyers Guild of Brooklyn and, most notably, the Bay Ridge Lawyers Asso-
ciation, where he has chaired numerous committees, served as a director
and held the offices of Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Recording
Secretary, Vice President and President; and
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Stephen D. Chiaino has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Stephen D. Chiaino has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Angela, and their
three daughters, Gianna, Samantha, and Tessa, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stephen D. Chiaino has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Stephen D. Chiaino upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition as the Immediate Past President of the Bay Ridge
Lawyers Association on June 17, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephen D. Chiaino.
