LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter of
the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution upon
the occasion of celebrating its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge those historical and civic organizations which honor and
advance the purpose of conserving and creating a better future for citi-
zens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter of the National Society
of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1910 by
General Bosworth's great-great granddaughter, Lucy Hale Bosworth; and
WHEREAS, The Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter strives to uphold the
values which Major Bosworth so nobly advanced; Major Bosworth was
devoted to protecting the civil and religious liberties of his fellow
citizens; he was instrumental in the defense of his hometown of Bristol,
Massachusetts, from British bombardment and in aiding the distressed of
Boston following the Tea Party; he was made a Representative to the
General Assembly in 1775; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter are typically
community-minded, educated women; their membership has included New York
State employees, writers, accountants, school employees, civic servants
and members of the military; several members are involved in the care of
stray and abandoned animals; and
WHEREAS, Chapter members possess great respect for what their ances-
tors did in the establishment of this free Nation of the United States
of America, and actively research genealogy; and
WHEREAS, Eager to share their stories and histories with the communi-
ty, chapter members often don replicas of antique costumes for presenta-
tions and participation in local parades, festivals and historical
activities; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter share an
unfailing devotion to the principles which made this country great and
work to honor the past while working to create a better future; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those civic groups which have demonstrated commitments to preserv-
ing the history of this great State and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter of the National Society of
the Daughters of the American Revolution upon the occasion of celebrat-
ing its 100th Anniversary and recognizing their dedication to the ideals
of civil and religious liberties; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter of the National Society
of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
