LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Captain Israel Harris-General John
Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution upon the
occasion of hosting its 2009 Good Citizens of the Year Awards ceremony

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Captain
Israel Harris-General John Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution upon the occasion of hosting its 2009 Good Citizens
of the Year Awards ceremony; and
WHEREAS, For more than a century, the members of the National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to
historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of
patriotic endeavor; and
WHEREAS, Located in Salem, New York, the Captain Israel Harris-General
John Williams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has
upheld the objectives of the National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution; the recipients of the 2009 Good Citizens Awards are: Hillary
Shippee, Argyle Central School; Lindsey Cher Socha, Granville Central
School; Conor Daniel Jones, Hartford Central School; and Shannon Neil,
Salem Central School; and
WHEREAS, The accomplishment of these fine students tell of their
excellent qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriot-
ism; and
WHEREAS, With their sense of civic duty and their commitment to
others, these students represent the best development of the potential
which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Captain Israel Harris-General John Williams Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution upon the occasion of hosting its
2009 Good Citizens of the Year Awards ceremony; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned honorees.
