LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Chief Minister of the State of
Rajasthan, The Honorable Ashok Gehlot, Chief Guest and keynote speaker
at the Third International RANA Convention being held in Huntington, New
York on July 2-5, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
just tribute to the cultural heritage and representatives of the ethnic
groups which comprise and contribute to the richness and diversity of
the community of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body, representing the people of
the State of New York, is pleased to welcome and honor The Honorable
Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of the State of Rajasthan, India upon the
occasion of his visit to New York to attend the Third International RANA
Convention in Huntington on July 2-5, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Rajasthan Association of North Amer-
ica (RANA) has worked to preserve and celebrate the rich and unique
culture and heritage of the colorful State of Rajasthan and has strived
to strengthen the Rajasthani community across the United States; and
WHEREAS, RANA promotes economic and industrial development in Rajasth-
an; supports and sponsors charitable activities and strives to enhance
the relationship between India and the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, The Third Rajasthani International Convention, being held
July 2-5, 2010 at the Hilton Hotel, Huntington, Long Island, New York
has been organized and is proudly being hosted by RANA New York; and
WHEREAS, The Convention will showcase the rich and colorful culture of
the State of Rajasthan, India and will have seminars on business and
development, education, and health awareness as well as on the promotion
of travel, tourism and IT sectors between India and the United States;
more than 2,000 delegates from across New York and the United States are
expected to attend; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of the State of
Rajasthan, will open the convention and will be its keynote speaker; he
will, in addition, be honored at the convention in recognition of his
outstanding service to the people of the State of Rajasthan and the
Rajasthani Indian community in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ajeet Singhvi, Dr. Jagat Narula, Dr. Rahul Singhvi and
Ms. Chanda Kochar will also be honored for their outstanding community
service and professional accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history RANA has exemplified community
involvement and pride of heritage; on the occasion of its Third Interna-
tional Convention, this Legislative Body is pleased to applaud its
worthy purpose and many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend RANA on the occasion of its Third International Convention and
to honor and welcome the Chief Minister of the State of Rajasthan, The
Honorable Ashok Gehlot, Chief Guest and keynote speaker at the Conven-
tion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of the State of
Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Association of North America, RANA New York,
and the convention's other distinguished honorees.
