LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sam Careccia upon the occasion of
his designation as the Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Ath-
lete of the Week

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Sam Careccia upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week; and
WHEREAS, Sam Careccia is the son of Mike and Debbie Careccia of
Warwick, New York; he is also the brother of Nicole and Kristen; and
WHEREAS, The senior two-sport standout (football and baseball) has
started the baseball season batting .600 (6 of 10) with two home runs
and six runs batted in (RBIs); and
WHEREAS, Sam Careccia is a tremendous presence in centerfield where he
has been a three-year starter; and
WHEREAS, He carries a 92 grade point average and has been recognized
by New York State as a scholar-athlete for football and baseball; and
WHEREAS, Sam Careccia is enrolled in both Calculus and Advanced Place-
ment English for college credit in his senior year at Warwick; he was
chosen to work on a senior project that involved a concert to benefit
breast cancer; and
WHEREAS, Sam Careccia has recently been accepted to Fordham Universi-
ty, where he will compete for their baseball team and study communi-
cations; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Sam Careccia's dedication to athletics
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Sam Careccia's exemplary performance is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sam Careccia upon the occasion of his designation as the
Warwick Valley Central High School Student-Athlete of the Week, and to
commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his family, his
school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sam Careccia, Warwick, New York.
