LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dan Corretore upon the occasion of
receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Union Hill Fire
Department

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dan
Corretore upon the occasion of receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award
from the Union Hill Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dan Corretore has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for this special honor; and
WHEREAS, A mentor and a role model for hundreds of firefighters and
EMS workers over the years, Dan Corretore has been a member of the Union
Hill Volunteer Firemen's Association since 1975; and
WHEREAS, During his 33 years with the Union Hill Volunteer Firemen's
Association, Dan Corretore has diligently served the community as both
an ambulance medic and driver, saving countless lives and comforting the
ill and injured during times of crisis; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; and
WHEREAS, Dan Corretore is such a firefighter; throughout 33 years of
devoted service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond
the call of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; and
WHEREAS, With Dan Corretore throughout have been his wife of 53 years,
Carolyn, and their five children, Reverend Dan Corretore III, David
Corretore, Janet Vandergrift, Sharon Scott and Laurie Kroon, 13 grand-
children and three great-grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Dan Corretore and to wish him contin-
ued success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dan Corretore upon the occasion of receiving the Lifetime Achieve-
ment Award from the Union Hill Fire Department, and to wish him contin-
ued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Corretore.
