LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition by the Center for
the Prevention of Child Abuse on April 22, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse at
its Annual "Celebrate the Child" Dinner to be held on Thursday, April
22, 2010, at The Grandview, Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff have continually demonstrated
extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and diligent leadership
in their unwavering service to their community and subsequently have
been selected for this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, Joseph Kirchhoff is a life
long resident of Dutchess County; he was educated in the Arlington
School district, graduated from the Hill School in New York City, and
attended Dutchess Community College; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, Joseph Kirchhoff purchased his first company, an
electrical contracting firm, while selling insurance and real estate for
his father's agency; after selling his electrical firm, he founded
Kirchhoff Construction Management, in 1991, which grew to be one of the
leading commercial builders in New York State; and
WHEREAS, In the summer of 2009, Kirchhoff Construction merged with
Consigli Construction Company out of Milford, Massachusetts, creating a
new entity, KirchhoffConsigli Construction Management, which is four
times the size of the original Kirchhoff-Construction; and
WHEREAS, The new company holds the core values of Kirchhoff
Construction with the expanded resources of Consigli providing clients
with expanded services and a wider geographic reach; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Kirchhoff plays an active role in the new company as
the CEO, focusing on business development and client relations; and
WHEREAS, Partnering with his friends, Joseph Kirchhoff is also an avid
real estate developer with projects throughout the Hudson River Valley,
some of which include CVS and Rite Aid Pharmacies, Arlington Square in
Poughkeepsie, New York, and Ransley Square in Fishkill, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Joseph Kirchhoff donates his time and talents to
various boards and committees throughout the community, including Ramapo
for Children, New Horizons Foundation, and the Dutchess County Economic
Development Council; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Kirchhoff has also been a generous benefactor of
Vassar College, Marist College, Mount Saint Mary's College, Northern
Dutchess Hospital, Anderson Center for Autism and over 20 other non-pro-
fit organizations; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his efforts of in-depth magnitude, Joseph
Kirchhoff has received numerous awards and accolades; in 2009, he was
selected as the Poughkeepsie Journal Business Person of the Year Award;
in 2007, Kirchhoff Construction received the Dutchess County Economic
Development Corporation's Business Excellence Grand Award; and
WHEREAS, Despite all his professional success, Joseph Kirchhoff enjoys
his family and friendships above all else; he has been married to Andrea

Kirchhoff for 25 years and together, they have four children, Kyle,
Troy, Samantha and Layla; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Kirchhoff was born in Poughkeepsie and has lived in
Dutchess County her entire life; in 1983, she graduated from Arlington
High School and attended the Krissler Business Institute, graduating in
1984; and
WHEREAS, After working in the office at Cavalier Electronics, Andrea
Kirchhoff took classes in Early Childhood Education and found her
passion teaching Nursery school; she was employed by Rainbows End,
Northern Dutchess Day Care Center and The Children's Corner; and
WHEREAS, Becoming a mother and being able to stay home with her four
children has been one of the greatest joys of Andrea Kirchhoff's life;
and
WHEREAS, While raising her family, Andrea Kirchhoff became very
involved in the community including the local 4-H, her children's
schools and her church; she served as President of the Board at St.
Josephs School as well as Room Mother and Cooking Mom for many of the
classrooms her children attended; and
WHEREAS, Andrea Kirchhoff is currently an Elder at The First Presbyte-
rian Church in Pleasant Valley where she also serves with their Friend-
ship Calling group; her involvement with the Center for the Prevention
of Child Abuse is one of her strongest passions, serving on the Board
and on the Auction Committee; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff have
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by Joseph
and Andrea Kirchhoff over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff upon the occasion of their desig-
nation for special recognition by the Center for the Prevention of Child
Abuse on April 22, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph and Andrea Kirchhoff.
