LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending South Bronx Mental Health Council,
Inc. upon the occasion of its 18th Annual Health Fair/Block Party cele-
brating International Cultural Heritage

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the efforts
of those organizations which provide vital mental health services to
individuals and their families, and in doing so, enhance the health and
welfare of the entire State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
South Bronx Mental Health Council, Inc. upon the occasion of its 18th
Annual Health Fair/Block Party celebrating International Cultural Herit-
age on Friday, June 18, 2010; and
WHEREAS, South Bronx Mental Health Council is an exemplary agency that
helps its patients cope with numerous obstacles compounded by multiple
illnesses, while always promoting independence and empowerment in
setting and achieving personal goals; and
WHEREAS, Clients of the South Bronx Mental Health Council have taken
great strides towards improving their lives through emphasizing their
strengths and building upon them; and
WHEREAS, Each year, South Bronx Mental Health Council sets aside a day
to applaud and pay tribute to those individuals who have made a
concerted effort toward an independent action to better their circum-
stances and overcome past difficulties to improve their quality of life;
and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations which bring awareness to mental
health issues, and assist people with mental illnesses in their quest
for dignity and independence, are a great benefit to the health and
welfare of all citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend South Bronx Mental Health Council, Inc. upon the occasion of its
18th Annual Health Fair/Block Party celebrating International Cultural
Heritage; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Humberto L. Martinez, Executive Director, South Bronx Mental
Health Council.
