LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Eggle-
field Brothers Ford dealership in the North Country of New York State

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the economic well-being and interests
of the people of this great Empire State merit the commendation of this
Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business
organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of the Egglefield Brothers Ford dealership
in the North Country of New York State; this auspicious occasion will be
celebrated on Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Elizabethtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Egglefield Brothers Ford dealership, with its headquar-
ters in Elizabethtown, New York, has been, "Home for your Ford since
1910"; in 2003, on the 100th birthday of Ford, it was the ninth oldest
Ford dealership in the United States; and
WHEREAS, In August 1910, just seven years after the Ford Motor Company
began its operations, Wilbur B. Egglefield founded the Egglefield Broth-
ers Ford dealership in a three stall barn in New Russia, New York; a
decade later, the Egglefield family built a new facility in Elizabeth-
town, New York, which is the dealership's current location; and
WHEREAS, Currently, the Egglefield Brothers Ford dealership is in the
hands of the fourth generation of the family, and a fifth generation of
Egglefields is already working in the dealership in Elizabethtown; and
WHEREAS, The Egglefield Brothers Ford dealership has a Ray Brook deal-
ership in addition to its Elizabethtown operation; it has one of the
largest inventories of new and used cars in the North Country of New
York State, as well as offering a full range of services and repairs;
including a full service body shop and a fleet of rental cars available
at both locations; and
WHEREAS, On Sunday, August 1, 2010, the Egglefield Brothers Ford deal-
ership will celebrate its historic 100th anniversary as a Ford dealer-
ship with a large community event in Elizabethtown, New York; there will
be music, food and a display of its automobiles; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Egglefield
Brothers Ford dealership in the North Country of New York State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when business
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Egglefield Brothers Ford deal-
ership in the North Country of New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Egglefield Brothers Ford dealership.
