LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carol Enseki for her 20 years of dedi-
cated service to the Brooklyn Children's Museum

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carol Enseki for her 20 years of dedicated service to the Brooklyn Chil-
dren's Museum; and
WHEREAS, A native of Bayside, Queens, Carol Enseki came to the Brook-
lyn Children's Museum in 1989 as an exhibit developer/project coordina-
tor and was named its President in 1997; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, Carol Enseki has led the efforts of the
Brooklyn Children's Museum to increase educational opportunities for
urban children through interactive science and cultural exhibitions and
programs, innovative use of collections and strategic collaborations
with both local community organizations and national partners; and
WHEREAS, Carol Enseki's commitment to increasing opportunities for
youth in underserved communities has led to the expansion of Museum
Team, a free, after-school educational and leadership program for young
people at the Brooklyn Children's Museum that has become a recognized
national model; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Carol Enseki was appointed to the Accreditation
Commission of the American Association of Museums and currently serves
on the Board of the Cultural Institutions Group of New York City, the
Brooklyn Arts Council and the Heart of Brooklyn Cultural Partnership;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Carol Enseki is an advisor for the National
Museums and Diversity Initiative and a member of the Diversity in Action
Committee of the Association of Children's Museum; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Carol Enseki, the Brooklyn Children's
Museum launched a capital campaign in 1999, which generated significant
public and private funds to support a major expansion of the facility
and its programs; and
WHEREAS, The "new" Brooklyn Children's Museum opened to the public in
2008 with all new exhibitions, expanded programs and visitor amenities
and is slated to become the first certified "green" museum in New York
City; and
WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, Carol Enseki rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Brooklyn Children's Museum,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as President of the Brooklyn Children's Muse-
um, Carol Enseki served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was
governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of
human problems in her official acts; and
WHEREAS, With Carol Enseki throughout have been her husband, William
Fulbrecht, and their son, Daniel, both of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carol Enseki for her 20 years of dedicated service to the Brooklyn
Children's Museum, and to wish her continued success in all of her
future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carol Enseki.
