LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Glove House
in Elmira, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of Glove House in Elmira, New York; and
WHEREAS, A not-for-profit children's agency providing services to
children and families throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes area
of New York State, Glove House was founded by Norman Jennings in 1968,
and opened its first group home in April 1970; this home was renamed the
Jennings Home in 2007, in honor of the founder of this illustrious
organization; and
WHEREAS, Glove House encourages change by reigniting hope, empowering
children and families to live successfully within the community and
helping them to want to create a positive future; and
WHEREAS, Some of the numerous programs and services for children who
have mental health or emotional issues who have been abandoned, abused
or neglected offered by Glove House include: Community Based Group
Homes, Community Residence, Respite Homes, Non-Secure Detention, Preven-
tive Services, Reintegration Services, Bright Futures, Therapeutic
Foster Homes and Truancy Intervention and Prevention; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by Glove House is in direct correlation
to the efforts of the many individuals, past and present, who have
supported its progress over the years; and
WHEREAS, Equally commendable are the superbly-skilled staff at Glove
House, whose involvement is and has always been characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all of their efforts on behalf of the organ-
ization and the population it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Glove House in Elmira, New York,
fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the sparkling success
which has so characterized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Glove House in Elmira, New York.
