LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Margaret Moscater upon the occa-
sion of celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, One of 13 children, Margaret Moscater was born Yolanda
Margarita Durante in Manhattan, New York, on December 16, 1910; and
WHEREAS, Yolanda Margarita Durante was married to Gene Moscater in
1934; together they were blessed with two daughters, Judy and Patricia;
the Moscater family lived in Brooklyn until moving to Wantagh, New York,
in 1950; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Moscater and her beloved husband loved to dance;
their specialties included the Charleston and the Peabody; in 1953, at
the annual Fourth of July celebration, the happy couple won the dance
competition with flying colors; and
WHEREAS, In addition to raising two wonderful daughters, Margaret
Moscater worked much of her adult life mastering a broad set of skills
in the workforce; she has been a clerical worker for American Express
and an expert seamstress as well as a sales person at Woolworths, Hess
and Island Office Supply; and
WHEREAS, Losing her husband after many years of devoted marriage in
1975, today Margaret Moscater is blessed with a growing family; in addi-
tion to her two daughters, she is the loving grandmother of four grand-
children and three great-grandchildren, all of whom are proud to be part
of her life and rejoice in her many accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, This beloved woman has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, Today in her golden years, a feisty woman and lover of choco-
late, Margaret Moscater still resides in the Wantagh home she and her
husband purchased in 1950, and is often visited by many family members
and friends; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with her zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Margaret Moscater upon the occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Margaret Moscater, Wantagh, New York.
