LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Stuart H.
Rickett, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion; and
WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. honorably
served his country for 42 months as Sergeant Technician Fourth Grade in
the United States Army in the 14th Corps Army Division; his tour of duty
took him to New Caledonia, the Salomon Islands, the Philippines, and
Sundia, Japan; he was honorably discharged on Pearl Harbor Day, December
7, 1945; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Stamford, New York, Stuart H. Rickett,
Sr. was a General Manager of the Stamford Agway Farm and Feed Store for
over 20 years; in this capacity, he was highly admired by both staff and
customers; and
WHEREAS, Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A former Village Trustee, Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. also served
as Trustee of the Stamford Methodist Church and as President of the
Stamford Golf Club; for the last 65 years, he has been a Master Mason
and valuable member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 68 years, Betty,
their children, Vicki, Stuart, Jr., and William, and their grandchil-
dren, Kirstie, Jason, Brett, Chad, Chris, William, Jr., and Tracy, as
well as their great-grandchildren, Jake, Paige, Sophia, Caden and Cole-
man, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in
his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Stuart H. Rickett, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stuart H. Rickett, Sr., Stamford, New York.
