LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harold King upon the occasion of his
designation as Alumnus of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Harold King has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Harold King
upon the occasion of his designation as Alumnus of the Year by SUNY New
Paltz School of Business as well as his induction into its Hall of Fame
to be celebrated on May 12, 2011, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston,
New York; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Allegheny College, Harold King holds a master's
degree in Business Administration from SUNY New Paltz as well as a
master's degree in Public Administration from the University at Albany's
Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy; and
WHEREAS, After graduation, Harold King worked as both an Economic
Development Specialist with the Dutchess County Economic Development
Corporation and Campaign Director for the United Way of Ulster County;
and
WHEREAS, Since 1991, Harold King has served as the Executive Vice
President of the Council of Industry of Southeastern New York, an asso-
ciation of 145 Hudson Valley manufacturing firms; the mission of the
Council is to promote the success of its members and their employees
and, through them, contribute to the Hudson Valley community; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Harold King found ways to increase the
collaboration between the Council and SUNY New Paltz; he organized a
strategic management training program, which was held at the College and
taught by its faculty, to provide executive training to company senior
level staff and small business owners; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Harold King assisted SUNY New Paltz School of Busi-
ness' effort to secure a Department of Education Grant to sharpen inter-
national business offerings and develop a series of global business
seminars; he was also instrumental in the development of an Engineering
Advisory Board at the College; and
WHEREAS, Harold King has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man serves on many community boards and
committees, such as the SUNY New Paltz Business Advisory Council, School
of Science and Engineering Advisory Board, and the Ulster BOCES Metal
Trades Advisory Board; he also serves on the Consistory of the Reformed
Church of New Paltz; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Harold King has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Amy, and their two
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Harold King has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harold King upon the occasion of his designation as Alumnus of the
Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business as well as his induction into
its Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harold King, New Paltz, New York.
