LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Solar Energy Consortium upon the
occasion of its designation as 2011 Business of the Year by SUNY New
Paltz School of Business induction to its Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and enduring
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The
Solar Energy Consortium upon the occasion of its designation as 2011
Business of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business as well as its
induction into the College's Hall of Fame to be celebrated on May 12,
2011, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of The Solar Energy Consortium (TSEC) is to
facilitate making New York State a global hub for transformative solar
research, innovation, application development, and manufacturing; and
WHEREAS, Since its formation in 2007, TSEC has assisted solar manufac-
turers in establishing themselves within the Hudson Valley region;
thereby creating hundreds of jobs; and
WHEREAS, To expedite the adoption of solar energy in the United States
and create a solar R&D and manufacturing cluster in New York State, TSEC
brings together industry, academic and economic development partners to
find solutions to the technical, economic and marketing challenges
facing the growing solar industry; and
WHEREAS, TSEC has formed several academic partnerships with schools
such as SUNY New Paltz, Binghamton University, Clarkson University, and
the City University of New York, lining them together to collaborate on
market-focused solar products and technologies, and to resolve issues
associated with new technology applications; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the The Solar Energy Consortium's success, recognizes its contrib-
utions to the local community, and extends its highest commendation to
its employees, fully confident that, in its future, it will enjoy the
same success which has so characterized its past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Solar Energy Consortium upon the occasion of its designation
as 2011 Business of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business as
well as its induction into the College's Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Solar Consortium.
