LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Armelle Kessler upon the occasion of her
designation as Student Leader of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of
Business

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Armelle Kessler upon the occasion of her designation as Student Leader
of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business as well as her
induction into its Hall of Fame, to be celebrated on Thursday, May 12,
2011, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, Armelle Kessler is a Management major with a minor in Theatre
Arts at SUNY New Paltz; she plans to graduate in May of 2011; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her college career, Armelle Kessler has been
involved with many different student organizations including Emerging
Leaders, New Paltz Players, the New Paltz Dance Team, Management Associ-
ation (MA) and the Deans Student Advisory Board (DSAB); and
WHEREAS, As President of the MA and the DSAB, Armelle Kessler has
played a significant role in leading, promoting and coordinating activ-
ities for both organizations; she began an entrepreneurship workshop
series for the MA in which local business professionals spoke with
students about the trials and tribulations of starting a business; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Armelle Kessler assisted in promoting and coor-
dinating the student debates hosted by DSAB; she also spoke to classes
and encouraged new and transfer students to get involved with business
associations; through her diligent efforts, she was successful in
increasing the number of MA and DSAB members; and
WHEREAS, Armelle Kessler works part-time on campus in both the School
of Business designing digital signage content, and assisting in the Main
Office and the Theatre Box Office; she regularly promotes the College to
prospective students during the Open House and Accepted Students' Day;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to her school work, she participated in two
internships, one with the marketing department at Proctors Theater in
the summer of 2009, and the second with house management at the
Williamstown Theatre Festival, the following summer; and
WHEREAS, In the future, Armelle Kessler hopes to work in Performing
Arts Management; currently, she is applying to the graduate programs at
both SUNY New Paltz and Brooklyn College; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, mentors and
parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Armelle Kessler upon the occasion of her designation as Student
Leader of the Year by SUNY New Paltz School of Business as well as her
induction into its Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Armelle Kessler.
