LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the East Syracuse-Minoa and Bald-
winsville school districts upon the occasion of their being named to the
AP Achievement List

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose exem-
plary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the East Syracuse-Minoa and Baldwinsville school districts upon the
occasion of their being named to the AP Achievement List; and
WHEREAS, The East Syracuse-Minoa and Baldwinsville school districts
are among the 388 school districts in the United States and only 28
school districts in New York State named to the College Board's AP
Achievement List; and
WHEREAS, The College Board's AP Achievement List recognizes school
districts for increasing the number of students participating in AP
classes while continuing to make gains in test performance; and
WHEREAS, Several criteria are used to select the College Board's AP
Achievement List, including broadening access to Advanced Placement
classes while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earn-
ing scores of "3 or higher" on the examination, which is usually
required for college credit; and
WHEREAS, From 2008 to 2010, the East Syracuse-Minoa school district
increased the number of students participating in AP by 30 percent,
while improving the percentage of students earning AP exam scores of "3
or higher"; and
WHEREAS, To be recognized for the AP Achievement List, the College
Board looked at three years of AP data, focusing on a steady or increas-
ing percentage of examinations taken by African-American,
Hispanic/Latino and American Indian/Alaska Native students; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the East Syra-
cuse-Minoa and Baldwinsville school districts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when educa-
tional institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the East Syracuse-Minoa and Baldwinsville school districts
upon the occasion of their being named to the AP Achievement List; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the East Syracuse-Minoa and Baldwinsville school districts.
