LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the life and service of Rocky
Devereaux

WHEREAS, The character of community life in this Empire State is nour-
ished and fulfilled through the concern and selfless devotion of those
who would commit their energies and purpose to serving others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge,
remember, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated
consistent excellence while bringing great pride to the citizens of our
great State; one such individual was Rocky Devereaux, who left this life
on October 4, 2010; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Lakeland, Rocky Devereaux graduated
from Solvay High School, and then faithfully served in the United States
Army during the Vietnam Conflict; and
WHEREAS, Rocky Devereaux retired from New Venture Gear in 2005, after
serving 30 years with the company; and
WHEREAS, Rocky Devereaux had served as a firefighter for 15 years with
the Lakeside Fire Department, and his last act was a selfless one; and
WHEREAS, In the course of assisting his neighbor whose house caught
fire, Rocky Devereaux suffered a heart attack which led to his premature
death; and
WHEREAS, Rocky Devereaux's life and service are remembered by family,
friends, and members of his community to whom he contributed so greatly;
and
WHEREAS, Rocky Devereaux is survived by his loving wife of 38 years,
Lorraine; his son, Edwin; daughter-in-law, Lisa; grandsons, Karmen,
Justin, Brayden, and Mason; three sisters, Joan, Carol, and Bonnie; a
brother, Thomas; and his Aunt Marion; as well as several nieces and
nephews; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the life and service of Rocky Devereaux; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Rocky Devereaux.
