LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sondra Youdelman upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition, to be celebrated on Thursday,
June 2, 2011

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Sondra Youdelman has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sondra Youdel-
man upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition, to be
celebrated on Thursday, June 2, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Sondra Youdelman has been working for Community Voices Heard
(CVH) since 2000 and was named the organization's Executive Director in
March of 2007; she previously served as CVH's Director of Public Policy
and Research; and
WHEREAS, Sondra Youdelman has worked both in the United States and
abroad to achieve social and economic justice through organizing; she
has over 15 years experience as an organizer and activist with grass-
roots groups, including farm workers, Native Americans, and public hous-
ing residents; and
WHEREAS, Sondra Youdelman advocates for low-income workers and various
populations throughout the United States, Latin America and in several
African countries; she earned her master's degree in public and interna-
tional affairs from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School in
order to gain policy analysis tools to bring back to the grassroots
groups; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Sondra Youdelman has a bachelor of arts degree
in American studies focusing on oppression and revolution from Wesleyan
University; and
WHEREAS, Sondra Youdelman has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sondra Youdelman has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Sondra Youdelman has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sondra Youdelman upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition, to be celebrated on Thursday, June 2, 2011; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sondra Youdelman.
