LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Pastor Richard Scott posthumously upon
the occasion of receiving the Police Chiefs Association of Ulster Coun-
ty's Meritorious Police Service Special Recognition Award on May 4, 2011

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to publicly recognize the life
of those prominent citizens whose lifework and purposeful endeavors have
served to enrich and enhance the quality and character of life for
others in their community and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Scott of Ulster Park, New York, served as a
preeminent citizen and spiritual leader whose distinguished service and
caring commitment will long serve as a standard to which others might
aspire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Pastor Richard
Scott posthumously upon the occasion of receiving the Police Chiefs
Association of Ulster County's Meritorious Police Service Special Recog-
nition Award, to be celebrated at its Annual Awards Banquet on Wednes-
day, May 4, 2011, at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, On February 7, 2011, Church Communities mourned the passing
of its spiritual leader, Pastor Richard Scott; and
WHEREAS, Over the years Pastor Richard Scott and his family spearhead-
ed countless outreach missions with law enforcement personnel; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Scott, who had an ongoing relationship with
Ulster County law enforcement, recognized the difficulties of the law
enforcement profession and sought to help ease the burden carried by
many police officers in any way he could; and
WHEREAS, This benevolent Pastor became a presence in the lives of many
local police officers and opened the doors of the Church Communities to
make law enforcement feel welcome; and
WHEREAS, In his final weeks, Pastor Richard Scott gracefully accepted
visitors from all over the world, but particularly took the extra time
to welcome and meet with members of the law enforcement community in
Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God always gave enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and administered
abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of all;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Pastor Richard Scott posthumously upon the occasion of receiving
the Police Chiefs Association of Ulster County's Meritorious Police
Service Special Recognition Award on May 4, 2011; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Pastor Richard Scott.
